Chautauqua

One of the oldest and most desirable neighborhoods in all of Boulder, Chautauqua features many classic brick tudor style homes and 20s bungalows alongside visionary mid century architecture.  Mature trees fill the neighborhoods and line the streets, the eponymous Chautauqua park borders the area to the South and features miles of trails, as well as an expansive “village green” for gathering. The Chautauqua Dining Hall (1898), a well-regarded local restaurant, the Concert Hall, offering a diverse selection of summer concerts and the Community House, a center for learning and enrichment with a year round offering of talks, lectures and silent films.

The Colorado Chautauqua, or as locals know it, Chautauqua Park, is located at Baseline & 9th and started in 1898. It is the only Chautauqua west of the Mississippi River still continuing in unbroken operation since the heyday of the Chautauqua Movement in the 1920s. It is one of the few such continuously operating Chautauquas remaining in the United States, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2006. The park contains 40 acres, and some 98 cottages, which are either owner occupied or available as rental cottages.
