Table Mesa’s Bear Creek Elementary Is National Blue Ribbon Again
Bear Creek Elementary, located in the heart of the Table Mesa neighborhood, was name to the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program for 2017. The award is based on a school’s overall academic excellence or marked progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. National Blue Ribbon Schools demonstrate that all students can achieve to high levels. Bear Creek is one of five Colorado schools recognized this year, including Dennison Elementary in Lakewood, The Connect Charter School in Pueblo, Valdez Elementary in Denver and Wildflower Elementary School in Colorado Springs.
This is the second time Bear Creek has won this honer, having received the honor in 2006.
This November, the Department of Education will celebrate with the honorees at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos praised the 2017 schools saying, “National Blue Ribbon Schools are active demonstrations of preparing every child for a bright future. You are visionaries, innovators, and leaders.”
Bear Creek is a vibrant school where creative staff and engaged students learn and play together with the support of parents and community.
